Imagine buying a plasma TV to give someone else better vision. And right there on the swing-tag label for the TV it says, “Thank you for buying this TV. You’ve bought it to get better vision. And as a direct result, a child who right now cannot see because they’re cataract-blind will have those cataracts removed. You get vision-you’ve given vision. Automatically. Thank you.” |

At Plant A Tree Today they can't completely reverse the effects of deforestation and global warming, but we can discover how planting trees can help to combat climate change, provide sustainable economic development for poor rural communities and reduce the effects of natural disasters. Everyone can make a difference, see what the PATT Foundation (www.plant-a-tree-today.org) is doing in Thailand, Asia and the world here... |

What is SLOW FRUIT? |

Slow Fruit |
| |
Starts with selecting the best table-quality fresh fruit. It’s washed, cut and dried very slowly – naturally preserving its full, rich flavour and nutrition, without adding sugar or preservatives. |

Other Fruit |
| |
Often starts with selecting “process quality” fruit. It’s washed, cut and dried quickly – under high heat, with more heat you lose more nutrients. Higher water content is allowed to increase weight, which also adds to the carbon footprint of the transport process. Sulphur dioxide and sugar are added to bleach out bruises and to act as a preservative. |

At Southern Alps we are committed to ensuring everyone benefits from our Slow Dned Fruit A good example of this is how we produce our Slow Dried Organic Mango. In Burkina Faso, Afnca, we found Claude. Claude's aim in life is to help people in Burkina Faso |

generate healthy, sustainable businesses from their local natural resources. Claude is our partner in producing mango. |

During the 3 month harvesting season, small teams of women wash, cut and slowly dry organic mango to our specification. We are very proud to say that the income that they earn enables their families to send their children to school. |

Claude has also set up teams to support families who have lost their main bread winner — which is common due to HIV/AIDS. The work goes well beyond drying mangoesl In the 9 months outside the harvesting season, these workers are trained i |

Healthy Planet is a social enterprise and a registered charity. All the money made goes to good causes like schools and the environment. With the support of the UN's Environmental Protection Team, Google technology, NASA's images and others, you can adopt land in any one of the 77,000 protected parks around the world in your own name or a gift to others. Donations start from £45pa (or £4.75pm) for a plot the size of 140 football pitches and your name will appear on Google Earth.
